Personal, academic, and social awareness is essential for a student to reach their optimum level of growth in a world of permanent change. Guerin Prep’s Counseling Department is an integral part of the school community. In accordance with the National Standards of the American School Counselor Association, its comprehensive developmental counseling services/program promotes and enhances the learning environment by facilitating the students’ personal,social, and academic development and through college and career planning. The Counseling Department focuses on the present success of the students and encourages students to continue learning throughout their lives. By helping them prepare to participate fully in the ever-more-complicated world, they can successfully face the challenges of the next century.
Through self-awareness, intellectual and personal growth, character development, an increased sense of responsibility, independence and self-worth, a student will manifest a sense of personal empowerment that will permeate all of their actions and make them personally effective - a personal framework by which students can shape their lives and develop into responsible, caring young men and women.
