Athletic Director

Rob Wennington

After graduating from Boston College and spending several years in Boston working for the Red Sox and as the Assistant Athletic Director, English teacher, and a varsity football and basketball coach at Catholic Memorial School, Rob returned home to Chicago to pursue his master's in Sports Administration from Northwestern University, where he also served as a Graduate Assistant for Northwestern Men's Basketball. He joins the Guerin Prep community in fall of 2018 as an enthusiastic Athletic Director who is motivated to infuse school spirit and excitement into the athletic department. His experience in athletics spans every level of competition from youth to professional, and he aims to build a foundation for the program that focuses on developing well-rounded young men and women in their athletic endeavors.

Assistant Athletic Director

Dee Susin

Dee Susin is an iconic member of Guerin Prep’s faculty and staff. She graduated from Mother Guerin in 1972 and pursued a three-sport athletic career at UIC. She entered the workforce with a degree in physical education and returned to work in athletics at Guerin almost immediately. During her tenure of 40 years at Guerin, Coach Susin has served as the physical education teacher, athletic director, volleyball, basketball, and soccer coach. Her experience and leadership has been crucial to the advancement of the athletic program.

Dan Mustari

Coach Dan Mustari enters his 10th season as Head Coach of Guerin Prep Baseball. His accolades include back-to-back regional championships in 2014 and 2015. After his baseball career concluded, he continued to play in national competitive men’s softball tournaments. Coach Mustari is a passionate coach who instills basic fundamentals of the game, and most importantly, the love to compete. He is focused on rejuvenating Guerin Prep’s team and bringing veteran leadership back to the dugout.

Basketball - Boys

Josh Izzo

Coach Josh Izzo began his coaching career in 2010 as an assistant varsity coach at Joliet Catholic Academy when his brother, Jeremy Izzo, suddenly passed away due to complications with Marfan Syndrome. The following year, Coach Izzo was hired by coaching legend Joe Gura and became the head sophomore and head freshman coach over the next three years. In 2014, he joined his alma mater's staff under Illinois Hall of Fame coach John Bonk at Nazareth Academy, where he moved up the ranks from head freshman coach to eventually assistant varsity coach through 2018. Coach Izzo’s tenacity and love of the game stems from the same commitment exhibited by his brother, who worked under Coach Bill Self and Bruce Weber at University of Illinois. He is motivated to build Guerin Prep basketball into a championship contender over the next few seasons.

Basketball - Girls

Barry Osborne

Coach Barry Osborne began his first season as the Head Girls Basketball Coach this fall. He owns 18 years of well-rounded coaching experience at the middle school, club, and high school levels. His last five years were spent at Zion-Benton High School, where he was the Head Freshman Girls Coach for two years and the Girls Varsity Assistant for three years. During his tenure at ZBTHS, Coach Osborne won a 4A regional and was a sectional finalist in 2015-16. Born and raised in Zion and a member of the ZB class of ’91, he now resides in Hoffman Estates with his family and is poised to bring back basketball tradition and excellence at Guerin Prep.

Carlie Nissen

Coach Carlie Nissen enters her second season as Head Cheerleading Coach at Guerin Prep. As a 2014 alum of the school, Coach Nissen experienced firsthand the community and relationships that influenced her own life, and she’s excited to give the same commitment back to Guerin. During her time as a student at Guerin Prep, she participated on the cheer team and strengthened her own passion for coaching. As a young, energetic coach, Coach Nissen is focused on rebuilding the cheerleading program into one that is centered on hard work, competition, growth, and family. She is currently a science teacher to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students within the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Cross Country Boys and Girls/ Track and Field - Girls and Boys

Stephanie Simpson

Coach Stephanie Simpson is in her first year as the Guerin Prep Head Cross Country and Track Coach. A 2011 graduate Luther North High School and former assistant coach, Simpson was a 4-time state finalist in track and a dynamic runner at University of Central Arkansas. She also trained during the summer with an elite Nike camp called SUB5 that invited Olympic-caliber athletes to the program. She is excited to build a successful cross country and track team and create new traditions in the Guerin Prep community. Her passion for running and team motto states: “Greatness is earned with GUTS. When our legs are burning, it is COURAGE that conquers the pain and DEDICATION that pushes us across the terrain. We don't run like others do because the run is our LIFE. It demands we NEVER fall behind, and that GREATNESS doesn't end at the finish line. So we train HARD and run no matter what. We BURN down limits and BLAZE past opponents. We let nothing keep us from VICTORY. We run as a TEAM.”

Dance - Club and Competition

Maggie Ewig

Coach Maggie Ewig has been part of the athletic staff at Guerin Prep for 8 years, currently going into her 6th competition season with the Varsity Dance Team. Coach Ewig is a Guerin Prep alum of 2008, and she has over 20 years of dance and cheer experience. She attended Ripon College in Wisconsin, where she was a three-year captain of the dance team and won a National Title for “Open Jazz” at nationals in Minnesota. The continuous development, growth, and emphasis on faith and family with the team at Guerin Prep has been an ongoing point of pride for Coach Ewig over the years. An outstanding support system found in the group of GP alumni dancers and dance team parents has been cultivated and continues to extend itself. The 2017-2018 season included a team trip to Orlando for a performance at the Citrus Bowl, as well as an appearance at the IHSA State Finals. The Guerin Prep Dance Team is the first team in school history to qualify for State Competition. Coach Ewig is looking forward to many more successful seasons here with the outstanding student-athletes of Guerin Prep.

Charlie Miserendino

Coach Charlie Miserendino begins his second year at Guerin Prep and first as the Head Varsity Football Coach. Last year as the Crusaders’ J.V. Coach, he led Guerin’s team to an undefeated 7-0 season. Prior to arriving at Guerin Prep, Coach Miserendino served 5 years as the Offensive Coordinator of the UYFL nationally ranked Shabbona Park Saints from Chicago, IL. He led the Saints to an overall 36-3 record while holding 4 Chicagoland Championships and 3 National Championships. His own football career began when he was Holy Cross’ starting QB in 2001. He began coaching shortly after as a teenager and has proven successful amongst his peers and the youth he coaches. Coach’s mission at Guerin Prep is to develop young men of character and integrity within a culture of excellence.

John Seno

Coach John Seno is a Michigan State alum, Chicagoland native, and Social Studies teacher at Guerin Prep. This year, in his first season as the varsity golf coach, a member of the boys’ golf team qualified for the IHSA Sectional, which is the first time in Guerin Prep history. Coach Seno is looking to continue this season’s excellence with a strong offseason program as he plans and prepares to grow Guerin Prep golf into a state contender.

Soccer - Girls and Boys

Rob Cianci

Coach Rob Cianci brings 18 years of coaching experience to Guerin Prep soccer, and the last 15 years have been as a head coach. Coach Cianci has served as the Head Boys and Girls Soccer Coach at Guerin Prep since 2013, where he focuses on skill development and team chemistry. He played soccer for Triton College in 1993 and is also currently the VP and Player Development Director at Hiawatha Soccer Club. Coach Cianci runs Guerin Prep soccer with the same passion that he exhibited as player who advanced to the Illinois Men’s Open Cup Championship with an illustrious career as a goal keeper.

Tony Pecoraro

Coach Tony Pecoraro is a 2001 Holy Cross graduate. He has coached numerous sports in his 15 years at Guerin, including football, baseball, and basketball, as well as his current position as Head Softball Coach. In his 3 seasons as head coach, the Gators have played in 3 consecutive regional final championships and have recorded 33 wins in that span. Over the last three years, Coach Pec has coached 8 All-Area players and committed numerous athletes to move onto play at the next level. “I am very proud of the program that my coaching staff and I have built. Our goal is to get this program to an elite level and we are very close to doing that.”

Volleyball - Girls and Boys

Tracy Devey

Coach Tracy Devey has spent the last 6 years at Guerin Prep building and developing the school’s volleyball program. Her passion, enthusiasm, and love for the game, coupled with 19 years of coaching and playing experience, strengthens the foundation and connection with boys and girls volleyball players at Guerin Prep. Coach Tracy has coached hundreds of volleyball players throughout her tenure that spans St. Patrick’s, Notre Dame for Girls, St. Juliana, St. Pricilla, and Dig It Volleyball Club, where she is Club Director. Her club program is a feeder for Guerin Prep, and the partnership fosters relationships with volleyball players of all youth ages to experience the community at Guerin Prep. Wife, mother, club director, and coach, Coach Tracy is poised to transform Guerin Prep into a contender for boys and girls volleyball.

Alex Sullivan

Coach Alex Sullivan is a proud Guerin Prep alum who knows his way around the wrestling mat. During his career at Guerin Prep from 2008-2012, Coach Sullivan compiled 108 wins and was ranked 5th in the state of Illinois. He continued his success as Muskingum University where he played football, wrestled, and ran track and field. He enters his second season as Head Wrestling Coach and aims to grow a formidable team.
