Guerin Prep Theatre Performed at Illinois High School Theatre Festival
Twenty three of Guerin's finest performers headed to Illinois State University to attend the 37th Annual Illinois High School Theatre Festival, January 5-7. During the Festival, the students participated in theatre workshops and had the chance to see over twenty productions selected from high schools across the state. They were chosen to perform the fall play, The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon at the festival. Over four thousand high school students and their sponsors from all over Illinois were in attendance to the festival and it truly was an honor for our students to be able to perform.
Additionally, Guerin Prep’s Theatre Director, Kristen Mackie has been named the President-Elect of the Illinois Theatre Association. She will take office in the fall of 2012. Congratulations!
NBC 5 News Visits Guerin Prep
Natalie Martinez, NBC 5 News Reporter presented a “motivational bio” recently to Guerin Prep AP Spanish students. During her visit, Natalie explained the importance of being a news reporter and the dynamics of her every day job. She also stressed the values of being a good writer and a good student. More importantly, Natalie discussed “bullying” and the effects that it has on high school students. She presented clips from a story that she did for NBC. Students wrote reaction papers about her visit and were grateful for the experience to learn from her.
