When is the Entrance Exam?

The Entrance Exam will be held at Guerin Prep on Saturday, January 14, 2017. A Make-Up Test will be given for those students who missed the test and have not taken the test at a Catholic high school in the Archdiocese of Chicago. 

What Entrance Exam is administered at Guerin Prep?

Guerin Prep High School administers the Explore Entrance Exam.

EXPLORE helps students identify areas of academic strength and weakness in four areas important for success in college and the workplace English, math, reading, and science. Since EXPLORE is a curriculum-based test, EXPLORE scores show the knowledge and skills that students are likely to have in each of these areas.

What is the application process?

On the day of the Guerin Prep Entrance Exam, students are given a packet of information which includes an application for admission and an authorization form for grammar school records. Students are to fill out the requested information and return it to Guerin Prep by the deadline date, typically in early February.

What criteria are used to determine acceptance to Guerin Prep?
Criteria used for decisions regarding acceptance and placement include results of the Explore Entrance Exam taken at Guerin Prep and 7th and 8th grade grammar school records.

When will I know that I've been accepted at Guerin Prep?

Letters of acceptance are mailed in early February, as set by the Archdiocese of Chicago.
