CAMPUS MINISTRY AT GUERIN PREP
CAMPUS MINISTRY ORGANIZATION
MODERATOR- Mr. Gene Majewski
Faith is a powerful thing. That's why a Guerin Prep education, nurtured in a faith community, is so important. It keeps everyone in the community centered; it nourishes our minds and souls; it offers helps we all need to make responsible life choices.
Guerin Prep's mission is not only to prepare students for college but also to enable them to come to an awareness of God at work in their lives. We want students to develop an appreciation for and an acceptance of the precious individuality and differences of all peoples in our multi-cultural society. In this way, we hope our concern for others will lead to action that will make our world a place where we all can live in peace and enjoy God's providential gifts.
The Campus Ministry Organization enhances the faith experience of all students and the mission of the school through event and activities such as School Liturgies, Prayer Services, Ministry Experiences (Scripture readings, Eucharistic Ministers, Sacristans, Servers, etc.) Retreat Peer Ministers, School Morning Prayer Leaders, and Service Projects.
Guerin Prep Remembers Christ's Journey
With Stations of the Cross
Campus Ministry students carry in the cross for students to venerate at the end of a prayer service focused on the Stations of the Cross. Guerin Prep dance students created a tableau of each station illustrating the journey of Jesus to his death. Click here to view the stations.
Guerin Prep Marks
the Beginning of Lent
with Ashes
During the Ash Wednesday liturgy, Guerin Prep's Lenten theme was introduced: "Reaching Out Along our Journey to Death and Resurrection.” Each day during Lent students will be asked to carry out one of the 40 invitations of things to do during Lent. Additionally, Operation Rice Bowl will take place in theology classes.
Guerin Prep Celebrates
Newest Saint
of Holy Cross Brothers
During the feast day liturgy Jan. 6 honoring St. Andre Bessette, a brother of the Holy Cross who was just canonized in October, Father Bernard Kennedy, OFM, blesses icons and holy cards of St. Andre. Father Bernard is assisted by Guerin Prep's very own Brother of the Holy Cross, Brother John Ptaszek. Father Bernard presented Brother John with a smaller version of the icon of St. Andre and prayer cards were distributed to all students. The icon of St. Andre will now hang in the school. Click here for more information about Saint Brother Andre.

True to form, campus ministry assisted the orgnaization again this year in collecting gifts from GP students and homerooms as well as in preparing the gifts for distribution to needy children in the city of Chicago.
