Excel at Guerin Prep
Guerin Prep is a great place to learn with a 100 percent college acceptance rate. Offering three academic programs of study for our students (Nolan Scholars Program, Providence Program and Sullivan Program) the school offers a truly individualized approach to learning.
We offer the unique opportunity for our Future Guerin Prep Class of 2021 to earn a FULL YEAR OF COLLEGE CREDIT while following our new PLUS ONE dual college credit curriculum. Our graduates are currently excelling as college students at Yale, Purdue, University of Illinois, Marquette, Loyola, De Paul, Auburn and other high ranking institutions.
Nolan Scholar Program
The four-year program is based on test scores, academic record, recommendations and a possible interview. Students take honors-level courses, participate in enrichment opportunities and gain mentoring aimed at preparing them to succeed at top tier colleges and universities.
Among the benefits, Nolan Scholars Program is designed to:
• Create positive role models for academic achievement
• Raise scores on standardized tests, especially college entrance exams.
Average ACT composite score last year was 28
• Improve financial scholarship opportunities for college
• Enable students to take the Advanced Placement Test in various disciplines
• Encourage participation in enrichment activities
To remain in the program, Nolan Scholars must maintain academic excellence (3.65 GPA or higher each semester and adhere to the Nolan Scholars’ Code of Conduct.)
PROVIDENCE COLLEGE PREP PROGRAM
This program is a rigorous, standards-based college prep curriculum, which links educational opportunities with the fine arts. This four-year course of study will enable students to be prepared not only for college but for life. ACT preparation is built into this program.
Sullivan College Prep Program
This program is designed for students who require help in developing his/her knowledge base and cultivation of essential skills in a given subject area in order to be successful in college and life. Students in the program are re-evaluated at the end of each school year to determine program placement.
The Sullivan College Program is designed to:
• Learning/strengthening of study skills
• Providing a specialized Sullivan program period
• Fostering test preparation skills
• Assisting with organizational and learning styles
• Offering academic counseling
All programs prepare the student for post-secondary education and each is aligned with ACT and Illinois State Standards. Students are able to move among the three programs as their skills and accomplishments allow. Each program is delivered by our dedicated faculty of whom 60 percent hold or are pursuing a master’s degree.
