Rob Wennington Named Guerin Prep Athletic Director
President Tom Bednar of River Grove’s Guerin College Prep has announced the appointment of Rob Wennington as the high school’s new athletic director, effective August 8. Wennington is recent graduate of Northwestern University’s Master’s program in Sports Administration. He had previously served as the Assistant Director of Athletics, Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach and English teacher at Catholic Memorial High School in Roxbury, MA.
“I am confident that Rob is the right leader for Guerin Prep Athletics. He brings wisdom, knowledge and passion, not only for athletics, but primarily for Catholic education in our community,” stated Bednar.
Wennington is very familiar with Chicago-area high school athletics. He grew up on the North Shore and attended Loyola Academy in Wilmette where he was a multi-sport athlete. He attended Boston College, earning a degree in Communications and was a member of the Boston College football team. He returned to the area in 2017 to pursue his Master’s at Northwestern, where he also served as a graduate assistant to the Men’s Basketball Program. Wennington has experience coaching high school basketball and has also worked for the Boston Red Sox organization in sales and promotion.
“Our athletic programs are driven by a commitment to the formation of the whole person, as we prepare to achieve competitive excellence in all of our sports programs. Rob is committed to helping our coaches develop student athletes to be leaders among their classmates and to conduct themselves with sportsmanship in the spirit of love, mercy and justice, stressed here at Guerin College Prep,” Bednar added.
